The wonders of nature

As I was looking out our kitchen window I noticed a large bird circling above a tall pine tree just across the road. At first I thought he was circling because he had spotted some prey for dinner but I realized that he kept swooping down on the same tree at a particular branch. I got out the binoculars and saw a big beautiful American Eagle on one of the branches. As I could get a better look at the flying bird I see that he too was an Eagle. He was courting this big gorgeous bird. He would fly very near her as she sat perched on a large limb...showing off for her and trying to impress her I am sure. After several minutes he would stop and rest in the top of a tree very close by her. He would flap his huge wings, shake himself and call to her....what a show off! I know the pictures are not very good but I just had to post them anyway.
If you look real close you can see the female Eagle that was watching the same show we were. She called out to him several times but after about 20 minutes she seemed to loose interest or maybe it was just time for her to get home! Off she flew...I don't know what she said to him but he stayed in a nearby tree for several minutes before flying off too.

I just can't believe the wonders of Nature we are able to witness here in the beautiful area. Stopping and smelling the roses takes on a whole new meaning around here...just don't forget to look up once in a while too.

Who needs TV when you have
nature-pure right on your doorstep?!!
I cannot think of a better way to "spy around" with the binoculars
and have a closer look at the variety of wonderful wild life you're enjoying in Montana. :-)
The behaviour of the female Eagle made me grin - changing her mind, that sure lies in the nature of all females LOL!!

Just like a girl. Perhaps she has seen another cuter eagle in the neighborhood.
