OUR LATEST ADVENTURE TO THE SEA
We spent a week at our favorite campground on the Washington coast.
There is always something wonderful to see.
Our first evening gave us a beautiful sunset to enjoy.
The beach usually has some wildlife to photograph and enjoy.
These young Seagulls were enjoying trying out their wings out over the waves.
The smelt were running so the Pelicans came to get their breakfast on this beautiful morning.
After they had their fill they spend several minutes on the beach drying their feathers.
One of the older adults seemed to be keeping watch over the flock as they all stood around with their wings held in a open position.
When the time was right they all flew into the air about the same moment and headed home to their island out from the beach.
Strange place to live but it seems rather safe for all these big birds.

Sites around town.
We took a drive yesterday and I found so many beautiful flowers in bloom. This town sure have beautiful landscaping everywhere!!
We ventured to the sea today and passed this pretty site on the way.
We had a good time but this was our first trip to our favorite place by the sea without our 2 precious pups.
It just wasn't as much fun as it used to be.

A TRIP TO THE BEACH.
It was such a beautiful day today that we just had to spend some time in the forest by the beach.
We also found a few bird friends there too.
There were several families there watching their children playing in the water. I am sure it was cold water but it did not keep the children from having a wonderful time.
And the views were pretty nice too! I love this part of the world. And I feel very lucky to be here.Monday, December 24, 2012
Christmas Eve visit to the Sea
The 40 foot long Giant Kelp that came up on the beach during a storm a few weeks ago had been washed back out to sea during a King Tide earlier this week.
But in it's place another bunch of Kelp was washed ashore. This is the type of Kelp that grows to just about 6 feet in length. So much smaller than the Giant Kelp.
But it is still large enough to tangle it's self around a log to get a hold so it stayed on the beach during the King Tide.
Mistaya the pup sends her love, wags and hugs too!

The latest Beach Find
We did venture to the sea to look for a few sea treasures. But there were none to be had.
Instead we came upon this Giant Kelp that washed ashore after a very large storm over the sea.
Because the Bay is so shallow the Kelp appeared to have rolled and rolled as it approached the beach. It was so tangled that I could not tell if there were any treasures held inside.
It will be interesting to see how long the Giant Kelp will stay on the beach before a strong high tide or another big storm can pull it back out to the sea.
This Giant Kelp does grow up to 40 feet in length...an most of these were that long.
I have seen Kelp washed up on the shore before but I have never seen any Giant Kelp. A wonderful find on a beautiful sunny day at the ocean.

One amazing day..
The weather was so beautiful yesterday that we just had to venture to the sea.
This photo was taken at the harbor in Westport, Washington on one of the most beautiful days of the year.
And the above photo is a view of Half Moon Bay with West Port on the other side of the jetty near the top center of the picture.
The small black figure is a gentleman standing and paddling on a long board. What a wonderful day to be 'on the water'.
We did a bit of beach combing but we enjoyed just strolling along the beach watching and listening to the waves while the pups ran with joy.
I do hope we have many more days just like this in the coming summer.
