Our adventure into the woods

Mistaya the puppy and I ventured out on a hike yesterday and along the trail we found several plants of Bear Grass is different stages of growth.
The flower is a beautiful white that grows on a stalk about 3 feet in height. The flower starts of open in bloom from the bottom of the flower.
Finally the bloom is complete and a wonderful, full flower sets atop the stalk.
They often grow in bunches of 6 or more and put on a spectacular showing. I have witnessed the Elk eating off the flowers and leaving nothing but the bare stalks standing. This flower stands out like a beacon in the forest when the sun shines down on it.

What a beautiful plant, I'm not sure if I've ever seen it before. The blooms are stunning, great photos.

That looks like a plant I would like to have growing in my garden.

Hi SQ, Yes, they are beautiful. They only grow in the mountains around here. I have hiked trails where there have been hundreds of them growing in a small meadow. A amazing site! If I get that opportunity again I will surely post pictures!

Hi Keewee, yes I thought they would look great in my garden until I was told it is against the law to have possesion of these beauties! So I will just have to enjoy them when I find them in the forests.

Hmmm. . . what a unique name your puppy has! Of course, we like it! How are you two? It looks like a very lovely place you get to spend your days. Sarah gave me your blog address a while back, but I wasn't sure it was you since you don't have much identifying info on there. But once I saw that name I figured, "who else could it be?!" :-)
