IS IT SPRING YET????

When I took the puppy out to her kennel at 6:00 am this morning I realized that it didn't seem quite as cold as it has been in the last few days. And of course the vision of Seed Catalogs came to my mind. Hmmm...maybe it's time to start some spring planning!

30 minutes later I looked out the front window and this was the scene that I saw. To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement! But wait...it gets worse!!!!........
Just another 30 minutes passed and this is the view from the window again!
The snow continued to fall for most of the day. This definitely doesn't bring a smile to the face of a Gardener, Hiker, Camper person. I am sick and tired of having to wear snow boots everywhere. They don't complement very many outfits. Darn.

Nutrition explained

This is definitely the very best explanation I have ever heard-------
Makes sense to me !

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain..........Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! .... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. Have a great day!!!

We had dinner at the daughters house last night with J.W.'s Son D. and arrived back home about 8:15. I was a bit surprised---and disappointed---to look out the back door 30 minutes later and see that the ground had turned white---again!! I know it's only February, but I was secretly hoping that we could start having some spring weather now!
I took this photo of the East Fork of the Bitterroot River just up the road from us. Yes, this is actually a photo where there is nothing but ice covering the entire river. Of course there is a worry about what will happen when this ice jam starts to break up. Fortunately it will not effect us but possibly many homes and bridges on down the river.
I am anxious for some warmer weather and the start of our walking/hiking classes in early March. But I do hope we have better weather by then so we won't have to wear every bit of winter clothing we have in our closest just to stay warm.

The sunshine has finally found it's way into Montana and my thermometer out on the deck reads 52 degrees. I think the sun must have been shining on it just a bit. But it was warm enough for the puppy and I to take a nice long walk. It was hard to tell who enjoyed it more, me or the pup!

We ventured into the BIG city yesterday and I couldn't help but notice the "GOING OUT OF BUSINESS" banner along the way. What a shame. I just wonder what is in store for our own little town that doesn't have much but a few cafes, 2 gas station and one grocery store. Two hardware stores are fighting to get as many sales as they can. This is such a wonderful community that I worry what will become of it.
