This is what I saw when I looked out the window at 6:30 this morning. and this is suppose to be March 29th! But the picture following really tells the story....
The over night snow fall measures about 5 inches. At 6:00 last evening we headed up the road across the street from our house to a House Concert. There was not a flake of snow anywhere to be seen. Some of my plants had started to poke their little heads above the ground and I was thinking that I am get out in the flowers beds Saturday morning. When we left the House Concert about 10 o'clock last night everything was buried in snow.
And this was the scene I saw this morning. Gee, I am tired of Old Man Winter around here!! As of this writing (11:00am)the temperature is now 27 degrees so maybe the sun can find it's way here and melt this white stuff!!

And I feel I need to explain why I have been absent from posting lately. I have closed out my Cafepress store and opened a store on eBay. Our space here in the Big Sky Country seems to be getting smaller and smaller. So I am sorting through all of my "collections" and selling much of them on eBay. So far I have posted about 35 items in several categories but have at least 300 other things to list. So I will be busy at this project for quite some time but I will return to post on this site every chance I get. I will be taking time off for hiking and horse back riding, and I will be posting photos of those adventures. The horse project has come about because our step- daughter and her family have 3 horses and have given me my choice of any to ride. And our new neighbor next door has horses also and wants to ride . And the family that held the House Concert also have horses and she invited the neighbor and I to join her and another lady to go on trail ride with them. So I will be back to the one thing in my life that I have missed every day!

So please be patient with me as I return to the two most exciting adventures in my life....hiking and horse back riding! What a life!!!!!!!!

I HAVE FOUND THE MOST AMAZING PLANT THAT IS THE ANSWER TO ALL MY WISHES!!! IT IS VERY EASY TO GROW...NEVER FADES....GROWS WITH A CANDY LIKE COATING ON ALL IT'S PEDALS AND LEAVES AND THE BEST THING----DEER WON'T EAT THEM! BUT EVEN BETTER--I CAN.....................

OH, OKAY, YOU GOT ME. WELL, AT LEAST I CAN DREAM CAN'T I???

MY WALKING GROUP IS MEETING TWICE A WEEK AGAIN AND WE HAD 2 REALLY GREAT WALKS ALREADY. THE EARLY MORNING FROST AND ICE WERE A BIT SCARY BUT THE DAY WARMED QUICKLY AND WE HAD A GREAT TIME.

JW TOOK ME OUT TO BREAKFAST ON MY BIRTHDAY...YUMM...THEN MY WALKING GROUP TOOK ME OUT TO LUNCH...AGAIN...YUMMY....THEN JW AND THE KIDS TOOK ME OUT TO DINNER....OF COURSE YUMMY..IT WAS CHINESE! SO I HAD A VERY FUN DAY WITH WAY TO MUCH EATING GOING ON. YES, I AM PAYING FOR IT NOW. I MAY WEAR OUT THE TREADMILL BEFORE I AM DONE PAYING FOR ALL OF THIS FUN.

I AM AMAZED WHEN I REALIZE HOW FAST MY BIRTHDAYS ARE PASSING. ONE OF MY WALKING GROUP FRIENDS ASKED ME HOW OLD I WAS AND I ASKED...DO YOU MEAN HOW OLD IS MY SPRIRT AND SOUL OR DO YOU MEAN HOW OLD IS MY BODY? AND TRUTHFULLY, MY SPIRIT AND SOUL ARE CERTAIN THEY JUST TURNED 23 AND MY BODY FEELS...NOW YOU REALLY DIDN'T THINK I WAS GOING TO ADMIT THAT DID YOU????????????????????

The weather was so beautiful this afternoon that I set up my wonderful hammock in the backyard! And of course, just minutes later I looked out the window and saw snowflakes floating down from above. Oh well, I am not giving up the hammock even if I have to brush the snow off before I climb in it!

I joined my walking/hiking group of friends this morning and went on a wonderful adventure outside. It felt so good to be out in the woods again. There is still alot of ice in the shady places but we didn't have any slips or spills on this trek.

It's a lazy Sunday morning and I am having a difficult time "getting in gear" for the day! The sun has found it's way out from behind the few clouds that are hanging over this beautiful valley so it looks like a warm sunny day is in store of us.

I have two projects I wish to accomplish today. One is to find a handy storage solution to store our large collection of old 33rpm records. Because of the size of our cozy home it has become a challenge for me to become very creative to find just the right place to display and store things.

The second project is located on eBay. I have decided that I would open a store on eBay. My other store site will be closed so I can channel my energy in this new direction. And hopefully I will make money and make some usable space here at home at the same time. Of course, if I can make some spare space that may mean that I have extra space to fill!!! Oh, okay JW, I am just kidding! My previous venture on eBay was very profitable so I am hoping for a repeat performance.

So I had better get busy before the idea of takin an early lap overtakes me! Have a great day.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

It must be spring in the Bitter Root Valley as I noticed the Turkeys are changing their neck color and the toms are strutting around in full foliage trying to catch the eye of one of the lady hens nearby. The hens neck become a beautiful turquiose blue and the males neck turn a deep purple signaling the spring ritual.

The turkeys have been fun to watch but now that the neighbor group has grown to more than 40 in number, they have defineitly lost their charm. They leave an amazing amount of "CHARM" everytime they pass thru our yard. And as the many layers of snow are melting away the eveidence of their presence is even more obvious.

Time is getting close for us to visit the animal shelter to see if there is a dog that would like to join our family. We have decided on a design for our fence around the house so as soon as that is finished we will have a nice home for our new family member to play in...and to help keep the wildlife away from my pretty plants. Of course he will join us in the house too. When people ask us what kind of a dog are we looking for I tell them we will let the dog choose us. Of course there will be a slight bit of adjustment when the new dog meets the cat Queen of the house. She has had her entire home to herself since we lost my cat Blackie almost 2 years ago. But I imagine a few swats on the nose and a couple of angry hissess will send the young pup running. Sometimes friendship is hard to earn.

Summary of Life

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.

2) When your mom is mad at your dad, don't let her brush your hair.

3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.

4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.

5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.

6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.

7) Never hold a dust-buster and a cat at the same time.

8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.

9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.

10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap.

To my darling husband,

Before you return from your business trip, I just want to let you know about the small accident I had with the pickup truck when I turned into the driveway.

Fortunately, not too bad and I really didn't get hurt, so please don'tworry too much about me.

I was coming home from Wal-Mart and when I turned into the driveway, I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake.

The garage door is slightly bent, but fortunately, the pickup came to a halt when it bumped into your car.

I am really sorry, but I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me. You know how much I love you and care for you, my sweetheart.

I am enclosing a picture for you. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again. Your loving wife. XXX

P.S....YOUR GIRLFRIEND CALLED.

thank you dan and sarah for this post!! Love you, Hostagirl
