Son made it to Montana for Thanksgiving...thank you Alaska Airlines for your on time flights!!! Just like it was suppose to it, it snowed the day before Son flew in. The entire valley was cloaked in a beautiful white blanket of fluffy snow! And the roads were bare of their snow for our trip to pick up son and also when we took him back to the airport several days later.
Of course, the scenes that caught my eye were endless during this beautiful winter time. The temperature was in the low 20's and the sun did appear right on schedule for all the travelers coming home for the holidays.
The day Son flew out of Montana was another sun filled day.....making mother feel much better about waving goodbye to Son as he enter through the gate to board his plane. And because of the time change between here and Seattle, he actually arrived home before we could drive back to our home in the lower Bitter Root Valley.
Our time together was so wonderful and full of millions of memories of days gone by. Of course there had to be one very late night session that was just like the "old days" back home in Washington. And I was thankful that he did get to meet a few of my walking/hiking friends while he was here for his visit.
Thank you Son for making this the best Thanksgiving I have ever had!!!

Wow, winter has arrived with a vengeance!!! It started snowing yesterday afternoon and as I write this it is still snowing. JW estimates that we have about 6 inches of snow so far. But the news is that we had a power outage this morning and after 12 hours without electricity our heat and lights are now back on! The temperature has held at about 28 degrees all day but we managed to stay warm during the day and evening. Thank goodness for our propane kitchen stove so we could still cook a warm meal and keep our home reasonable warm during those long 12 hours. It's amazing how much we take for granted throughout our days. You can't imagine what it felt like to see the lamp come on in our living room tonight. Just the glow of it was amazing to see and the warmth that filled the room as the propane heater pushed it's warm air through out the house was such a blessing. It's so simple to flip a switch and the light fills the room. You learn to appreciate those simple things living out in the country in the heart of winter!
So things seem to be back to normal for the evening. Gosh, I hope to awake to a house full of warmth and comfort in the morning. Son is scheduled to fly into Missoula on Wednesday afternoon so please find the switch to turn the snow off for the rest of the week so everyone can enjoy the wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!!!

Today is our first rainstorm in many months. So we are inside stretched out in front of the TV watching college football. A nice day.

So, as you can guess, today I am feeling very lazy and I am having a hard time finding something wonderful to blog about. So I have posted a note a friend emailed me and I thought it was rather cute. I hope it gives you a chuckle.

What Religion is Your Bra?

A man walked into the ladies department of a Macy's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, "I'd like to buy a bra for my wife."

"What type of bra?" asked the clerk.

"Type?" inquires the man, "There's more than one type?"

"Look around," said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, color and material imaginable.
"Actually, even with all of this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose."

Relieved, the man asked about the types.

The saleslady replied:"There are the Catholic, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types. Which one would you prefer?"

Now totally befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them. The Saleslady responded, "It is all really quite simple... "

The Catholic type supports the masses. The Salvation Army type lifts the fallen,The Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright, and The Baptist makes mountains out of mole hills.

Have you ever wondered why A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, G, and H are the letters used to define bra sizes? If you have wondered why, but couldn't figure out what the letters stood for, it is about time you became informed!

(A} Almost Boobs...

{B} Barely there.

{C} Can't Complain!

{D} Dang!

{DD} Double dang!

{E} Enormous!{

F} Fake.

{G} Get a Reduction.

{H} Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!

Have a great weekend!!!

I think I have discovered something that the local deer won't eat.....at least so far. And they have already eaten just about everything in site!!! The above picture is of my pretty little Irish Bells. I transplanted a few of them this last spring from the garden back in Washington state and they did a great job of making good growth this summer. Their one defense is that they have little spikes all along their stems which seem to guard their pretty green leaves and flowers. And each little bell shaped flower has 4 little white seeds in it so their should return in abundance next summer.

The second plant I have discovered that still has all of it's leaves is my transplanted Azalea plant. It's a very pretty tiny leafed bush with very small lavender flowers. So some of my gardening has survived the wildlife around here....so far!

I went out with my hiking/walking group yesterday afternoon in the most beautiful weather. Not a cloud to be seen anywhere in this beautiful blue sky of Montana. We all wore our hunter orange because we are in the middle of hunting season. But all went well and we all had such a good time.

This was a cute scene that I was able to catch today out in my front yard. This young deer and her mom were enjoying a snack of a few apples that had fallen from the tree when the neighborhood turkey flock came through the yard to find their share of the goodies. This little guy didn't know which way to run as mom stood quietly watching the scene. The turkeys finally moved on and he settled down to finish what apples were left.
Another unusual ranch name in the area. I can only guess that this gentleman must be a horse shoer.

This is a mountain that we could see as we drove South of Hamilton on the east side of the Bitter Root river on our way back home to Darby a few days ago. It was a very pretty drive with many great views and my first trip on this dirt road was well worth the slow drive home. I don't even know the name of this beautiful mountain and of course there is a lot of burning going on in the valley so it wasn't a very clear day for pictures.
From mountains to a pretty green field filled with lot's of sheep greeted us on our drive. As we got closer we realized that these sheep were grazing in a field that had been a garden during the summer as we could see things that definitely looked like red leaf cabbage. One way to get the field cleared for winter and new plantings in the spring. Montana... Amazing.
